Apple Watch Photos Not Syncing
If you’re an Apple Watch owner, you may have noticed that your photos aren’t always syncing between your watch and your iPhone. There are a few reasons why this might be happening, and thankfully, there are also a few solutions.
One reason your photos might not be syncing is that iCloud Photo Library is turned off on your iPhone.
To turn it on, go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and toggle the switch next to iCloud Photo Library. Once it’s turned on, all of the photos from your iPhone will sync to your Apple Watch. Another reason for missing photos is that you’ve enabled Optimize Storage on your iPhone.
This feature saves space by only keeping low-resolution versions of photos stored on your device. To disable Optimize Storage, go to Settings > iCloud > Photos and tap Optimize Storage. Once it’s turned off, all of the full-resolution photos from your library will sync to your Apple Watch.
If neither of those solutions work, try force quitting the Photos app on both your iPhone and Apple Watch (by double tapping the Home button and swiping up on the app). Then restart both devices and see if that does the trick. Hopefully one of these solutions will get those missing pictures syncing again!
How to Refresh Apple Watch Photos
Assuming you would like a blog post on how to change the photos on your Apple Watch:
If you have an Apple Watch, you may have noticed that the photos it uses as a wallpaper are different from the ones on your iPhone. This is because, by default, the watch will use different images from your iCloud photo library based on time and location.
While this can be handy if you want to see new pictures of loved ones or memories of past vacations while away from home, sometimes you just want to pick your own favorite picture and set it as the background. Here’s how: Open the Photos app on your iPhone.
Select the image you want to use and tap Share. Scroll down and tap Use as Wallpaper. Tap Set Both to use the same image on both your watch face and Home screen, or tap Set Home Screen to only change what appears behind the apps on your watch face.
From there, you can choose whether you want the image to be static (the same each time you raise your wrist) or dynamic (a new image each time). If dynamic, choose between Time-Lapse, Photo Stream, or Slideshow for an animated effect; we think Time-Lapse looks best with most subjects since it blurs backgrounds while keeping people and animals in focus as they move around. You can also adjust the brightness of dynamic wallpapers using 3D Touch/Force Touch – press firmly on the screen and slide up or down to dim or brighten respectively.
And that’s all there is to it! Now go forth and show off those beautiful pictures.
Apple Watch Photo Face
As the name suggests, the Photo Face feature on Apple Watch lets you create a watch face using a photo from your album. You can either choose a pre-existing image or take a new one using your iPhone’s camera. To select a photo, open the Photos app on your iPhone, then tap the Albums tab and choose an album.
Tap to select the photo you want to use, then tap Done. The selected photo will appear in the center of the screen with various customization options around it. You can use any type of image for your watch face, but square images work best.
If you’re using a portrait or landscape photo, you can zoom in or out to crop it to a square size. Once you’re happy with how your watch face looks, tap Add in the top right corner to add it to your list of available watch faces. If you ever want to change or delete your Photo Face, just go back into the Photos app and tap Edit in the top right corner of the screen.
From there, you can select a new photo or delete the current one.
